He was born in 1941 in Mixquiahuala, Hidalgo state. He grew up surrounded by an artistic environment thanks to his father, a passionate lover of literature and jazz violinist. Because of this, he manifested artistic interests from a young age. He decided to move to Mexico City in order to pursue higher studies at the San Carlos Academy. There he learned from artists such as Antonio Rodríguez Luna, Francisco Moreno Capdevila, Luis Nishizawa, Santos Balmori and Antonio Ramírez. In 1964 he completed his graduate studies, specializing in painting. In 1964 he mounted his first individual exhibition, in which the famous American actor Vincent Price acquired all the works in it. The actor called Gálvez a “Mexican Picasso”. His works are part of important private collections in Mexico and abroad.
He was a member of the National Council for Culture and the Arts of the state of Hidalgo and has received more than 15 awards and honorable mentions.
